Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using BudgetTrove.com ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

2. What BudgetTrove is

BudgetTrove is a personal finance tracking tool: your budget spreadsheet, checking ledgers, savings, debt payments, work and time tracking, and optional AI-generated informational reports. It is a record-keeping tool. It is not a bank, lender, broker, payment service, or financial advisor, and it never moves money for you.

3. Not financial advice

Nothing in the app is financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Budgets, projections, payoff timelines, tax withholding estimates, and AI insights are informational only, are based on the figures you enter, and can be wrong. Any decision you make is your own, and you should consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

4. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to hold a financial account where you live, to use the app.
• Keep your password and sign-in method confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• Enter accurate information: the app's figures, projections, and reports are only as good as what you give it.
• Use one account for yourself. Accounts are personal and are not to be shared or resold.

5. Your data and content

Everything you enter or upload stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, process it, send the relevant parts to our AI provider when you use an AI feature, and show it back to you. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what is collected and how it is handled.

6. Acceptable use

• Do not upload someone else's financial documents or data without their permission.
• Do not use the app for anything unlawful, including fraud or misrepresentation.
• Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the app, other users' data, or our systems.
• Do not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the app, or resell access to it.

7. AI features

Statement and paystub reading and financial insights are optional and process your data with a third-party AI model. AI can misread a document or make a mistake in an estimate. Always check important numbers against your own statement, receipt, or paystub before relying on them. The app asks for your consent the first time you use an AI feature, and declining leaves every other feature working.

8. Fees

The app is free to use. If paid features are introduced later, the price and the terms of the purchase will be shown before you pay, and anything bought through an app store is billed by that store under its own terms.

9. Availability and changes to the app

We may add, change, or remove features, and we may take the app offline for maintenance or updates. We do not promise that the app will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy. You use it at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or losses arising from financial decisions you make using the app. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Ending your account

You can stop using the app at any time and permanently delete your account and its data from the Profile page, or from the public deletion page if you can no longer sign in. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or misuses the service.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
